1. Controller

[Name der verantwortlichen Person oder Organisation], [Straße und Hausnummer], [PLZ] Berlin, Germany

Email: [hello@nornfellowship.org]

2. At a glance

This website does not use tracking or advertising cookies and no analytics services. We collect only the data needed to run the site and to process your application.

3. Hosting and server log files

The website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. When you visit the site, the host processes technically necessary data (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser and operating system type) in server log files.

Legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and stable operation). Transfers to the USA rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses. A data processing agreement is in place with the host.

4. Fonts

All fonts are served locally from our own server. No connection is made to Google Fonts or similar services.

5. Language choice

When you pick a language with the switcher, your browser stores this choice locally (Local Storage, key “norn-lang”). The entry never leaves your device and only shows you your chosen language on your next visit. It is technically necessary under § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG. Your browser language is evaluated only in your browser and is not sent to us.

6. Application form

When you apply, we process the details you enter: first and last name, email address, age, origin, place of residence, education and background, links, your free-text answers and optional details.

The purpose is to review and select applications and to communicate with you. Legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps at your request) and your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. Your answers may contain special categories of personal data, such as political opinions, origin or health (e.g. in the question about your childhood); we process such information only on the basis of your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (email [hello@nornfellowship.org]).

Your application is transmitted to our server over HTTPS and forwarded to our mailbox via the email service Resend (Resend, Inc., USA). Transfers to the USA rely on standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Other recipients are members of the selection panel, who are bound to confidentiality.

Retention: we delete applications that do not lead to admission no later than [6] months after the selection process ends. For admitted fellows, we keep the data for the duration of the fellowship and afterwards only as far as statutory retention duties require.

The required fields are necessary to assess your application; without them we cannot consider it. There is no automated decision-making, including profiling.

7. Contact by email

If you write to us, we process your message and sender details to handle your request (Art. 6(1)(f) or (b) GDPR) and delete them once they are no longer needed.

8. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21 GDPR). Contact [hello@nornfellowship.org].

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, e.g. the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin, Germany.

9. Version

October 2026. We update this policy when the website or the law changes.
